Visit us on Facebook at Lakeshore Humane Society, Inc.

The Lakeshore Humane Society is a non-profit, all volunteer organization, dedicated to helping protect the welfare of all animals and providing humane education to our community. We pride ourselves in being a no-kill shelter.

Not everyone is capable of a monetary donation.  That doesn’t mean you are not valuable to us.  You can also help us by donating your time.  Volunteering is a huge part of LHS, it’s the backbone of our operation.  We need volunteers to walk dogs and socialize cats, to lend a hand at our adoption events and fundraisers or as a foster home, we need your help! Check out our section on VOLUNTEERING

"Give me a D! Give me an O! Give me a G! What does that spell? DeeOhGee!" Dogie is a mixed breed who was dealt a bad hand. He's four years old, and despite medical neglect and being shuffled from place to place, this "tough guy" is actually a sweetheart. His exact heritage is a bit of a mystery--maybe a little lab, maybe a little rottie. He came to us in a sorry state--half bald, skin infections, fleas, and more. But his little stump tail wags and wags! He loves treats and being petted and going for walks. We are still getting to know him and figuring out what his ideal home would be like. He needs additional medical treatment, but will be available for adoption soon! Stop by or call 672-1991 and ask about the dog whose name spells "DOG."

Meet Jewlz!! He is approximately 2 years young and gets along with everyone and everything he meets.  He would be a wonderful addition to just about any home. He is up to date on vaccinations, and ready to cozy up in your lap immediately. Give us a call for more information!

Stop down to St. Hedwigs Social Center on Tuesday, February 25th for our annual Spaghetti Dinner!

For just $10 you receive spaghetti with meatballs, delicious italian bread, tossed salad, homemade dessert and a beverage. PLUS, you are helping our local four-legged friends!

APRIL - Cat (12-28-19)

April showed up at a feeding place last summer and shortly afterward, had kittens. This spring, she was expecting kittens once again, so was captured and shortly after gave birth to three kittens. All the babies are adopted and it is time for April to get a loving home with folks that won't dump her in the woods. She is a quiet, somewhat shy gray tabby who likes being petted
